#7 Matthias Kyburz’s Countdown to the NY Marathon – equipment

7 days left until the start of the New York Marathon!
We’re thrilled to follow Matthias in these final days leading up to the New York Marathon! The excitement is building — can he take running.COACH into the top 10 on the world’s biggest marathon stage?

As race day gets closer, it’s time to talk about something every runner cares deeply about — equipment.

For New York, Matthias Kyburz will be running in something very special: “I’ll be wearing Salomon’s latest carbon model — a prototype that will be released next year,” he reveals. Cutting-edge tech for a cutting-edge athlete.

But even the fastest shoe needs to feel just right on race day. “I’ll break in the shoe about twice before the marathon,” says Kyburz. “In the week before the race, I even wear it around the living room so it can adapt to the shape of my foot.” A small detail — but one that can make a big difference over 42 kilometres.

And what else goes into his race-day bag? “I always make sure I can react to the weather,” he explains. “That means I pack both a short and a long race outfit — just in case.”
