16:36

Matthias Kyburz passes 29 km in 1:29:39, still running strong and maintaining a solid rhythm. Based on his current pace, he’s heading toward a finish time of around 2:10:20

16:33

American runner Hillary Bor continues to push the pace at the front, once again creating a small gap between himself and the rest of leading group. The intensity is clearly rising as the field begins to stretch out. It’ll be exciting to see how this unfolds heading into the 30 km mark.

16:32

The gap at mile 17 is about 15 seconds between group 1 and 2.

16:31

Kyburz now a bit more active in the group behind. Running alongside Kipchoge.

16:29

The lead pack has now split into two groups. About eight runners have moved to the very front — Kyburz is not one of them. Still a long way to go.

16:21

Kyburz has reached mile 15 in 1:15:15. Up next is mile 16 and the climb over the Queensboro Bridge — a quiet and demanding section where no spectators are allowed. But the reward awaits on the other side: as the runners descend into Manhattan and turn onto First Avenue, they’re greeted by a wall of roaring crowds

16:14

The Pulaski Bridge marked both the halfway point and the entry into Queens. From here, the course winds through Long Island City, with the Manhattan skyline growing ever closer.

15:17

Matthias has a personal best of 2:06:48 over the marathon distance. However, the New York City course is typically 3–5 minutes slower than flatter races. That means we can expect a finishing time of around 2:10:00 today — if everything goes according to plan.

15:05

The runners are off — it’s go time! For Kyburz, today it’s all about placement rather than time. The focus is on racing smart, not chasing the clock.
