Automatic Bidirectional Sync with Garmin Connect

To make using running.COACH as simple as possible, we recommend Garmin users connect running.COACH directly to Garmin Connect.

This way:

  • planned upcoming workouts are loaded from running.COACH to Garmin Connect (and from there to the Garmin watch)
  • after completing the workout with the Garmin watch, activities are synced directly via Garmin Connect to running.COACH.

How do I connect Garmin Connect to running.COACH?

Before you start:

Make sure there is a connection between your Garmin Connect account and your Garmin watch. You can find help here.
Click the upload button in the top right corner of running.COACH:

1. Click on the watch icon in the logged-in areaconnect watch
2. Click on the Garmin symbol and then on the “Connect” button
3. Log in to Garmin Connect in the window that opens and confirm the connections

Make sure you have enabled both synchronisation types (the first is for transferring training activities to running.COACH, the second for uploading running.COACH workouts to Garmin Connect).

If you don’t want running.COACH to access health data or historical data, you can simply disable the access. Your previous training data (Historical Data) can be managed directly on the “Connections” page.

Let’s go!

  • running.COACH is now connected to Garmin Connect. Your workouts will be synced from now on. The first exchange will take place when a new training session is loaded to Garmin Connect.
  • Completed workouts are visually marked in the running.COACH training plan and are available for detailed logging. Your GPS track will be displayed on the map.

The next 7 training days are automatically loaded into your Garmin calendar. After syncing your Garmin watch with Garmin Connect, these will also appear on your watch (“Training” -> “Training Calendar”), where you can start them. Workouts are automatically updated every time the training plan is changed.

Information

How to stop workouts

Tempo and interval sessions: for these training sessions, it is important that the automatic lap function (Autolap) is turned off on the watch. This allows the running.COACH workout to be optimally analysed afterwards.
Warm-up and cool-down should be marked by pressing the Lap button on the watch.
Races: for races, we assume that the warm-up and cool-down are each recorded as a separate training session.

Troubleshooting

If the exchange still doesn’t work after the first upload, it is recommended to check in the Garmin Connect settings whether the connection with running.COACH is listed there.

Often, problems can be solved by disconnecting and reconnecting the connection.
